Living Special Needs will help you get to where you want to be

Living Special Needs is a culmination of my training and real-life experiences.

I emphasize the word Living because it is often the first thing people stop doing when a family receives a new diagnosis for a child that will require special accommodations – the world seems to stop and our instinct is to focus all of our attention on the new diagnosis and its implication – in essence we forget to Live. I contend that you can Live a full life and still provide all the attention needed to help your child and familyLiving Special Needs is designed to help you get there one step at a time and to offer you and your family a fresh perspective.

My Approach

My approach to Living Special Needs is a hybrid model – a combination of short-term, solution-focused psychotherapy with a cognitive behavioral approach. I will also incorporate life-coaching techniques with the goal of self-empowerment.

The most effective way to gain control of your out-of-control life is to enhance your strengths and improve your weaknesses – small improvements will have a large impact and will lead to the inner peace and happiness you require to help your family grow and thrive during this very difficult time.

To manage a life with special needs offers unique challenges, and I want to make the process of acceptance easier for you and your whole family and provide a framework on which you can thrive.

Services

A child with special needs affects the entire family not just the caretaker. I can provide individual, couples, and family therapy. I also offer self-advocacy training, PPT and team meeting support. In addition, I am available for workshops and speaking engagements.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation via Skype or telephone to help us both determine if the relationship makes sense and to ensure I can meet your needs.

I know all too well how difficult it is to find time for yourself. If you then add on the time it takes to travel back and forth to an appointment, you are less likely to be consistent. Teletherapy can offer you the convenience of psychotherapy in the privacy of your own home. I am also available for traditional appointments as requested.

During our first session we will identify key areas that you want to address. Whether it is working through your complicated grief, learning how to live with unknown, or figuring out how to accept the unacceptable, Living Special Needs will help you get to where you want to be.
